Hardwood Floors

...bitch!

A quick rundown of the competition... teams from across New Zealand are given not a second more than 48 hours to creat a seven minute max short film having to adhere to a randomly chosen genre and incorporate three elements of a prop (a rock), a line of dialogue ("it doesn't fit") and a character Alex Puddle an exaggerator.

This was our third year in the 48 Hours competition and second regional win to the surprise of many, myself included. We pulled Parallel World as our genre and at times struggled to come up with anything decent. My original intention was to make it a short short film. No more than four or five minutes. Short and to the point. Well, we kept the story simple, but couldn't help but have fun filming stuff for the montages which lengthened it out a bit for better or worse.

As I write this, this could possibly be the last time I do a 48 Hours film using the approach I've done in previous years, which is directing, shooting and cutting the whole film all on my own. For some reason this year I was not quite up to my standards and exhausted myself quite a lot in making it and getting it in on time. I say that now, but who knows, I'm pretty sure I said something similar after last years competition.

The Film itself...

Not online yet, but coming soon. Very soon.
